The Missouri State men and women travel to Evansville, Ind. on Friday, October 24 to challenge conference competitors Evansville and Illinois State. The men enter the event with a dual meet record of 1-0 while the women will aim to secure their first victory, starting the 2008-09 season 0-1.
The Bears’ men also go into the meet after recently receiving seven votes toward a top-25 ranking in the Division I CSCAA Poll. The poll ranks the top dual meet teams in the nation and will be published seven more times during the 2008-09 season.
Evansville, a member of the Sun Belt Conference on the men’s side, is currently 0-1. They enter their second dual meet of the season after falling to Southern Illinois in the beginning of October. The Aces will be the only competitor for the Bears’ men on Friday. “We will be looking to try some people in various areas and get some different times for our guys against Evansville,” stated head coach Jack Steck. “It’s early in the season, so we hope to figure a few things out through this dual meet.”
The women will swim against both Evansville and Illinois State, each team a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears will face Evansville at 0-1 and Illinois State which holds a record of 3-0. “We have never faced Illinois State in a dual meet. I think it will be a difficult meet and our women have got to step it up because they are young, tough competitors,” said Steck.
The meet has a scheduled start time of 4:00 p.m.
