SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State University swimming and diving head coach Dave Collins announced plans today for an elite Midwest training camp for perspective college swimmers, to be conducted June 2-8 on the MSU campus.
The first session is June 2-5 for male participants, while the female camp is June 5-8. Swimmers entering their junior or senior year of high school are eligible to participate. The cost is $350 per athlete and includes housing and all meals. A non-refundable deposit of $175 per athlete is due at the time of registration. Final payments are due May 19.
"I am excited to announce a very unique swim camp opportunity we are offering this summer for swimmers to come to Missouri State University and work with our coaching staff," said Collins. "Our focus is on a great coach-to-athlete ratio in which we can really get to know the athletes and challenge them to improve. The workouts will be very challenging, and it will be fun to see how the different athletes react and bring out the best in the group."
To maximize feedback and training results, camp space is limited to 20 participants per session. Participants are expected to be able to swim 10,000 yards a day. It is recommended that they are competing at the sectional level or above. The sessions will focus on challenging the participants with workouts and sets that will create an atmosphere focused on high-level training and racing.
