The Missouri State men’s swimming & diving team closes its 2012-13 regular season with three quality opponents this weekend at the Northwestern Dual Invitational in Evanston, Ill. In a unique quad-dual format, the Bears (7-2, 2-0 MAC) will compete against No. 20 Iowa and Northwestern of the Big 10 Conference, along with (RV) Notre Dame, currently a member of the Big East.

The NU Invitational will be split into three sessions over a two-day period, beginning with Session 1 on Friday at 5 p.m. (CST). Sessions 2 and 3 will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and all events will be timed finals following the same lineup as a typical conference championship.

All-Time Series vs. Northwestern
While this weekend’s meeting with Northwestern will mark the first dual meet between Missouri State and the Wildcats, the Bears are no strangers to Evanston. Last season, the MSU men posted several lifetime bests at Norris Aquatic Center and claimed the TYR Invitational team title. In what turned out to be a two-team race between Missouri State and Northwestern, the Bears outlasted the Wildcats, 1,006-981. In addition to the team title, Paul Le was honored with the TYR Invitational Swimmer of the Meet award after locking up two individual victories.

All-Time Series vs. Iowa
The series between Missouri State and Iowa is tied at 1-1, however, the Hawkeyes won the last head-to-head matchup. In October 2009, Iowa welcomed the Bears to Iowa City and evened the series with a 188.5-109.5 victory. Four years earlier, the Bears swam against the Hawkeyes in Lawrence, Kan. and came out with a 85.5-54.5 win at the neutral facility.

All-Time Series vs. Notre Dame
This weekend’s meeting with Notre Dame will mark the first-ever dual meet between the Bears and the Fighting Irish.

Fun Fact
Missouri State freshman Jack Snow will have the chance to square off against his twin brother, Luke, a freshman swimmer at the University of Iowa. Chances are the two will compete in some of the same events including the 50-yard freestyle and relays.
