Jan. 23, 2013
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - On Wednesday (Jan. 23), newcomer Dora Kiss became the fifth Missouri State women's athlete to earn Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week honors this season. CLEVELAND, Ohio - Missouri State's list of Mid-American Conference weekly award winners continues to grow as sophomore Paul Le was named MAC Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday (Jan. 23). Le picked up his second weekly honor of the season and bumps the Bears' total to seven. Last week, diver Garrett Nevels was awarded MAC Athlete of the Week after his record breaking performance against No. 20 Penn State. This past weekend, Le was one of two MSU athletes to sweep his individual events. In addition, Le was a key component on the Bears' 400 medley relay that just missed the Hammons Student Center pool record. To kick off the meet against Truman State, Le swam the butterfly leg of the 400 medley relay (3:21.80) with a split of 49.27. Shortly after, Le chalked up an individual victory in the 50 free (20.82) and was only .15 seconds off his career best. Completing the sweep of his individual events, the sophomore from Moore, Okla., cruised to a 1.5 second victory in the 100 free (46.07). The Southmoore High (Moore, Okla.) product now owns top-five times in the MAC in six different events including the 50 free, 200 free, 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly and 200 IM.
