Johnson Named Sun Belt Swimmer of the Week
Seth Johnson, a senior on the Missouri State swimming and diving team, has been named the Sun Belt Swimmer of the Week for the period of Dec. 10 - Jan. 14, the league office announced Wednesday.
Johnson sits at the top of the Sun Belt’s season best list in the 200 breaststroke. His time of 2:02.05 scored him an individual win at the annual Delta State Christmas Invitational in December. Johnson also grabbed a first-place win in the 200 IM with a personal-best time of 1:54.10 and finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 57.49. Both times rank third on the Sun Belt’s season best list. The MSU senior was a big factor in the Bears’ invitational victory in which they outscored both the University of Tampa and Delta State.
The Bears will be back in the water Thursday, Jan. 18, at Drury University to take on the Panthers for the second time this season. Missouri State hosted Drury on Nov. 18 and the MSU men sailed to a 136-107 victory and the women fell 137-106 to the Panthers. The meet is schedule to begin at 7 p.m.
