MISSOURI STATE SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS DROP MEETS AT MU
The Missouri State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were outscored Saturday in Columbia, Mo., in their first competition of the new year. The men dropped a dual meet against Missouri (160.5-139.5) and the MSU women were defeated by Arkansas (247-53) and host Missouri (210-71).
In the women’s competition, Bears’ Jordan Hawkins, Frannie Moody, Andi Rojas-Jimenz and Matana Wellman combined for a time of 1:45.52 to win second-place in the 200 medley relay competition.
On the men’s side, Senior Ignacio Gayo was a multi-event winner for the Bears claiming first in the 50 free with a time of 20.71 and first in the 100 free clocking a time of 45.54.
Junior Victor Serra was a double event winner capturing first in the 100 fly and 200 individual medley. In the fly competition Serra stopped the clock at 50.18 and in the IM competition he posted a time of 50.18.
Eduardo Pajares claimed the number one spot in the 200 back race with a time of 1:50.27.
In the 200 fly competition the men Bears claimed the top three spots. Freshman Taylor Parsons led the way with a personal best time of 1:51.57, Serra captured second posting a time of 1:53.13, with AJ Goertzen following close behind to claim third with a time of 1:56.55.
Junior Josh Udermann earned a victory in the 200 free clocking a time of 1:41.22 while Sophomore Nicolas Villarroel claimed first in the 100 back with a time of 50.67.
Freshman Cajun Skinner posted a time of 57.30 in the 100 breast competition to earn first-place honors.
The Bears’ swimming and diving teams will be back in the water Friday, Jan. 18 in Kirksville, Mo. The Bears will challenge the Truman State University at 4:00 p.m.
