Swimming & Diving Open 2007 With Meets in Florida
The Missouri State men's and women's swimming and diving teams got the 2007 portion of their season schedules under way Wednesday as the MSU men divided two dual meets and the Missouri State women's team dropped all three matches in a triple dual in Boca Raton, Fla.
On the men's side, Clemson University defeated Missouri State 126-59 and beat host Florida Atlantic 139-46. Missouri State scored a 113-75 win over Florida Atlantic.
The Clemson women also recorded a sweep. Clemson beat FAU 105-80, Missouri State 138-47 and Rice 99-70. Florida Atlantic beat MSU 127-61, and Rice defeated FAU 100-85 and beat Missouri State 134-51.
The Bears got their lone win from Ignacio Gayo in 46.57 seconds in the 100-yard men's freestyle. Missouri STate got second place finishes from J.R. Pyle in the men's 1,000-yard freestyle at 9:48.66 minutes and Victor Serra in the men's 100-yard butterfly at 51.73 seconds.
Missouri State returns to action Saturday (Jan. 6) in Fayetteville, Ark., at 11 a.m., when the MSU men face the University of Denver and Missouri State's women hook up against both Denver and host Arkansas.
