MINNEAPOLIS - Missouri State junior divers Garrett Nevels and Zach Wheelerclosed their experience at the 2014 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, competing on the 1-meter board at University Aquatic Center Tuesday.

Nevels posted a preliminary-round score of 310.40 points to place 23rd and Wheeler scored 251.60, placing 33rd, to finish the season. The top-18 divers in prelims advanced to the finals of the event.

Senior Lindsey Conwaywas scheduled to compete in the women's 3-meter event, but was scratched.

MSU diving coach Jim Huelskamp was proud of his divers despite not making the finals cut and being on the road since winning the Mid-American Conference Championships last Saturday.

"Garrett was sitting in finals position when he missed his back 2 ½ and at this level, one miss and you're out," he said. "Zach and Lindsey, for their first time at zones, handled themselves as true veterans. All our divers did a great job competing.

"We are all a little tired from being gone from home for eight days."
