MSU Athletics Director's Honor Roll - Fall 2012
2011-12: Was entered as an exhibition swimmer for the 2012 MVC Championships...Swam a season best in the 50 free (24.72) at the conference meet; her prelims time would have qualified her for the B-Final...Also swam in the 100 and 200 free preliminaries at the MVC Championships...Posted two season bests at the UIW Christmas Invitational in December including a 53.65 in the 100 free and 1:58.40 in the 200 free.
Background: Was named Most Valuable Swimmer at local Kickapoo High School and helped break several school records...Was a four-year letterwinner...Ranked as the 13th-best swimmer in the state of Missouri for 2011 by CollegeSwimming.com...Swam for head coach Dave Collins and the Missouri State Aquatics club team...As a senior, she swam in the consolation finals at the 2011 MSHSAA Girls State Swimming Championships in both the 200 free (14th) and 100 fly (10th)...Earned all-state accolades for her efforts in the 200 and 400 free relays...As a junior, Swain qualified for state in 7-of-8 individual events...She was the only freshman at Kickapoo to swim at state, participating in all three relays.
Personal: Merideth Anne Swain is the daughter of Chris and Laura Beitzell. She has two siblings: Jeffrey Swain and Natalie Beitzell. Her grandfather, Russell G. Barnekow, Jr., and mother, Laura Beitzell, both attended MSU. She is majoring in sport & park administration.
