2011-12: Was one of nine Bears on the all-MVC honorable mention squad...Named to the 2012 MVC Scholar-Athlete team...Was one of six MSU swimmers in the A-Final of the 200 IM at the 2012 MVC Championships; finished eighth in the event...Qualified for the A-Final of the 400 IM at conference and swam a career best 4:29.27) to finish fifth...Made the championship final in the 200 back for her third top-eight finish at the MVC meet...During the dual-meet season, she picked up a win in the 200 back at Lindenwood...Qualified for the A-Final in the 400 IM at the UIW Christmas Invitational and finished sixth overall...Finished on the season's top times list in three events including the 200 back (5th) and 400 IM (4th).

2010-11: Was one of 11 MSU swimmers named to the all-MVC first team...In her second MVC Championship meet, she made the A-Final and notched career bests in all three individual events...Earned a bronze medal in the 400 IM (4:32.16) and MSU's second fastest time of the season...Finished fifth in the 200 back (2:06.21) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:08.70)...Followed up a successful freshman year with three top-five times among MSU swimmers in the 200 back, 200 IM and 400 IM.

2009-10: Named to the 2009-10 MVC honorable mention team...Finished top-eight in all three of her individual events at the 2010 MVC Championships...Swam the 200 IM (2:10.08) and placed fifth...Her top finish of the conference meet came in the 400 IM (4:23.60) with a fourth-place performance...Added another fifth-place conference finish to her resume in the 200 back (2:06.59).

Background: Joined the Bears after swimming under the director of coach Wayne Smith at Putnam City West High School...Was Oklahoma state champion in the 100 back as a senior...Named to Oklahoma City all-city first team in 2006 and 2008...Former club teammate of Bears' backstroke record holder Jordan Hawkins...Swam for Chesapeake Swim Club and was awarded the 2008 Central Mega Zones third-place high point award in Indianapolis, Ind.

Personal: Kaylee Michelle Steffen is the daughter of Stan and Shelly Steffen. She was born on March 6, 1991 in Oklahoma City, Okla. and has one brother, Derek. She is an elementary education major.
