At Missouri State: Roko returns to the Bears to continue an already impressive career and is even ranked by FINA as the number 12th ranked athlete in the world in the 50-meter backstroke in the Short Course...2008-09: Roko had a strong sophomore showing, finishing the year in the Bears top five in five individual events, including breaking the school record in the 100-yard backstroke (47.40)...Roko swam in the Croatian National Championships in the summer of 2009, and set a new national record in the 50-yard backstroke (25.62)...In the 2009 Sun Belt Conference Championships, Roko was a member of the 200-meter freestyle relay that broke both the Missouri State and Sun Belt record with a time of 119.40...2007-08: Simunic was the third leg of the 400 free relay that placed third at the 2008 Sun Belt Championship. A fourth-place finish with a time of 49.90 in the 100 backstroke was his best finish individually at the meet. Simunic also finished eighth in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 free. For his performance in the 400 free relay, he was awarded Sun Belt Medallion honors. Background: Roko Simunic joined the Bears after representing Croatia in international competitions. In 2006, he competed in the international meeting, earning gold in the 100 individual medley, silver in the 50 breast, and bronze in the 50 free.
