2012-13: Joins senior Daan Jansen as a team captain for the men's swimming & diving team.
2011-12:Was a member of the Bears' second-place 800 free relay that was under the previous MAC championship record; The quartet of Baryshok, Sims, Schuermann and McKnight rewrote the MSU record with a time of 6:33.53...Was a top-16 finisher in the 200 free at conference; Placed 15th in the timed final on the second day of competition...Placed 22nd out of 29 swimmers in the 100 free at the MAC Championships...During the dual meet season, he won the 100 free vs. Lindenwood (11/4)...Also collected a first-place finish in the 200 free vs. Truman State (11/5)...Finished on the season's top times list in three events including the 50 free (5th), 100 free (5th) and 200 free (4th).
2010-11: Had a strong performance at the Tunica Invite, collecting a victory in the 100 free and a third-place finish in the 50 free...Set personal bests in the 50, 100 and 200 free at the 2011 MAC Championships...Dropped more than three seconds in the 200 free...Was a key contributor on relays, swimming on the 200, 400 and 800 free relays at conference.
2009-10: Sims did not compete in any meets as a freshman.
Background: Sims came to Missouri State from the Tsunami Swim Team based in Kansas City, Mo. A former basketball player, Sims has height and athleticism which will transfer well to the pool. Sims has potential to become a strong swimmer for the Bears.
Personal: Jacob Michael Sims is the son of Mike and Connie Sims. He was born on October 27, 1990 in Kansas City, Kan. He has a sister, Nicole. Sims is majoring in advertising & promotion.
