At Missouri State: As a senior co-captain for the women's squad, Francy Palma will provide leadership and strong performances in backstroke events for the Bears in her final season. 2007-08: In her junior year, Palma performed well for the Bears, earning All-MVC First Team honors. Scoring the most points for the Bears in the 200 back, she finished second with a time of 2:05.19. Palma also finished ninth and 11th in the 100 back and 500 free, respectively. She was named an MVC Scholar-Athlete for her performance in the classroom as well as listed on the MSU Academic Honor Roll. 2006-07: Palma earned all-conference honorable mention honors as she placed sixth in the 200 back, 10th in the 100 back and 12th in the 500 free. Palma was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team and was placed on the MSU Academic Honor Roll. 2005-06: As a freshman, Palma made her mark on the Missouri State record board when she set a school record in the 200 backstroke at the Valley Championship. She also ranks third in MSU history in the 100 back. At the league meet, Palma was the 200 back champion and the runner-up in the 100 back, earning her All-MVC accolades. Background: Francy Palma joined the Bears after qualifying for the Central American Games in which she took home three gold medals (100 back, 200 back, 400 medley relay) and one silver medal (200 freestyle relay) her senior year. She also earned three gold medals at the Venezuela National Games and won one bronze medal at the South American Games in Uruguay. Personal: Full name is Francy Adelina Palma. Born May 2, 1986, in Caracas, Venezuela. Daughter of Alcides and Francys de Palma.
