2009-10:Novak was one of the top breaststrokers for the Bears, finishing the year with the top time in the 200-yard breaststroke with his 2:04.05 (eighth in the MAC). He also had the third-fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.16, MAC Championship) and fourth-fastest in the 400 IM (4:05.30, MAC Championship). Over the summer with the Tsunami Swim Club in Kansas City, he qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials in the long course 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events...

2008-09: At the 2009 Sun Belt Championship, Novak turned in his best times of the year with top finishes in 400-meter Individual Medley (4:09.41), 100-meter breaststroke (56.65) and 200-meter breaststroke (2:03.50)...

2007-08: In his first season as a Bear, Novak was a top breaststroke swimmer for the men. His best finish at the conference meet was a third place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 56.65. This time was enough for Sun Belt Medallion honors. He also finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke and 15th in the 400 IM. He was listed on the MSU Academic Honor Roll for his accomplishments as a student.

Background: Novak came to Missouri State from Park Hill South High School where he was voted the most valuable swimmer for two consecutive years. His senior year, he was team captain and an all-American, all-state and all-conference selection. Novak helped lead his team to a state championship in the 200 medley relay and to a fourth-place finish overall in the state of Missouri. He also earned a second place state finish in the 100 breast and a third place state finish in the 200 IM. He holds conference and school records in the 200 medley relay, 100 breast, 200 IM, and 400 free relay.
