At Missouri State: Kyla Meuer set a Missouri State varsity record in the 100 breast (1:04.86) at the 2005 Delta State Christmas Invitational. At the 2006 Valley Championship, Meuer turned in seven top three finishes, including four championships in the 200 free relay, 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay and 200 breast. She earned silvers in the 200 IM and 400 free relay along with a third-place finish in the 100 breast. For the third straight year, Meuer was an All-MVC selection. She was an MVC Scholar-Athlete pick for her achievements in the classroom and was listed on the MSU Academic Honor Roll. 2004-05: Meuer helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a first-place finish at the MVC Championship. She also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, third in the 200-yard IM and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. Meuer earned all-conference honors. 2003-04: As a freshman Meuer took first in three relays (200 free, 400 free and 200 medley) and won the individual 50 free and placed fourth in the 100 free at the 2004 Valley meet. Background: Meuer had a highly successful career at Oak Harbor High. She was a four-year letterwinner and never placed lower than fifth at the Washington state meet. She was named the team's most valuable in 1999, 2000, and 2001. She was also a two-time all-American. In her junior year she set the school record in the 100 free.
