Bears capture first relay win since 2010 with the 800 free relay

2011-12: Swam on the Bears's second-place 400 free relay to conclude the 2012 MAC Championships...Broke the 21-second barrier for the first time in his career in the prelims of the 50 free at the conference meet; Registered a 20.82 in both prelims and the consolation finals to finish 15th...Was .05 seconds away from 16th place and a spot in the B-Final of the 100 free; Swam a career best (45.66) on third day of the MAC Championships...During the dual meet season, he won the 50 free vs. Lindenwood (11/4) and at Truman State (1/14)...Also won the 200 free at Lindenwood (1/21)...Finished on the season's top times list in the 50 free (4th), 100 free (4th) and 200 free (3rd).
Background: Swam four years at Chickasha (Okla.) High School and the Chesapeake Swim Club...Was a four-year captain at Chickasha...Totaled six individual titles in three years at the Oklahoma Class 5A State Swimming & Diving Championships...Named Oklahoma 5A Swimmer of the Year and earned NISCA All-American status in the 100 free...Added All-American honors in the 100 and 200 free during his junior year; Broke the 5A state record in the 200 free...As a sophomore, he broke the 5A state record in the 50 and 100 free...Was tabbed as the Oklahoma Suburban Conference Most Valuable Swimmer three years in-a-row...Also was a three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American (2009-11).
