2009-10: Carter finished his first year with the Bears as the team's top swimmer in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.76), 500-yard freestyle (4:28.75) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:51.28). He was one of only two Bears to win an individual event in the Mid-American Conference Championship when he finished first in the 200-yard butterfly. Carter did not finish lower than fifth place in any race at the conference meet...

Background: Nick Carter comes to the Bears from South Dakota State University, where he swam in freestyle, butterfly and backstroke events for the Jacks. In one season at South Dakota State, Carter set the school records in the 100-yard butterfly (51.58) and 1,000-yard freestyle (9:43.95). Prior to swimming for the Jacks, Carter was a two-time all-state and four-time all-conference swimmer for the Rogers High Mountaineers. Nick was also the 2008 Arkansas High School State Champion in the 200 backstroke, 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly.

Personal: Nicholas Clark Carter was born on Mar. 9, 1990 in Rogers, Ark. to Rebecca and Danny Carter. He has one sister Jennifer. Both of Carter's parents are MSU alumni class of '78.
