2011-12: Finished among the Bears' top five fastest times in 2012 in four different events (1000 free, 1650 free, 200 fly, 400 IM)...In his first conference championship, Arbel recorded a lifetime best in the 200 fly (1:51.48) and qualified for the consolation finals, finishing 12th...Placed 13th in both the 400 IM and 1650 free at the 2012 MAC Championships, while setting personal bests in each event...Made the finals heat of the 500 free and 200 fly at the TYR Invitational...Was one of five MSU swimmers in the top six spots of the 1650 free at the TYR Invitational...Captured a fifth-place finish at the UIW Christmas Invitational in the 200 fly.

Background: Arbel comes to Missouri State from Reut, Israel. He participated in the 18th Maccabiah Games in 2009, winning three bronze medals. He swam the 400-meter free with a time of 4:05.76, the 400-meter IM at 4:24.04, 200-meter fly in 2:02.02, the 100-meter fly in 55.80 and the 1500-meter free with a time of 16:25.

Personal: Amir Arbel is the son of Amos and Aliza Arbel. He was born on September 26, 1989 in Rat Gan, Israel. He has three siblings: Yael, Ido and Omeri. He is majoring in cell & molecular biology.
