Steve Sawchak is entering his 13th year as the assistant athletic trainer, responsible for the athletic health care of the Missouri State University football squad and Men's and Women's golf. Also oversees the Missouri State Athletics Drug Testing program and coordinates the NCAA drug testing program. He returns to Missouri State University after serving as an assistant athletic trainer from 1990-96. Before his return, he worked at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg, KS, and was the athletic trainer for the Frontenac School District.
Steve is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Missouri Athletic Trainers Association (MoATA) where he currently is the chairperson for the College/University Committee. He has also served as the MoATA secretary for 6 years.
He and his wife, Shelly, have two sons, Sam and Aaron.
