Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning
Jeremiah Frey begins his second year as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. Frey (pronounced "fray") is active with all 16 intercollegiate athletic teams at the University and serves under the direction of Director Terry Sauerbry.
Freyis a 2004 graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science/Health Promotion.He was also a student assistant strength coach his senior year at Central. From there, he continued his academic career at Illinois State University where he served as a graduate assistant Strength and Conditioning coach while earning a Masters of Science in Kinesiology and Recreation. As a Redbird, Frey headed up the development of the women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's golf and the swimming and diving programs as well as assisting with all other sport programs.
Frey then spent the past four years at Cornell College as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, where he oversaw the college's 19 varsity teams, creating specific strength and conditioning programs for both individual athletes and general team needs. For the athletes, he developed and administered nutritional supplementation, created biomechanical, speed and strength evaluations and assisted with the development, design and equipping of the college's new strength training center.
He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, USA Weightlifting and the American Red Cross.
Most of Frey's family live in central Iowa near his home town of Madrid. He and his wife Celeste reside in Springfield.
