Student-Athlete of the Week for May 8: Kirstin Cutter, Softball
Senior shortstop Kirstin Cutter led the Bears with six hits on the week, sealing the top spot in the Valley with 35 conference hits on the year. She hit .429 in league games this week while driving in a pair of runs. She also scored twice and was a perfect 2-for-2 in steal attempts. In her 200th career start on Tuesday, she went 3-for-4 against Wichita State scoring a run and driving in another to propel the Bears to a season sweep of the Shockers. In Saturday's win at Bradley, Cutter had two hits and an RBI in the decisive fourth inning. She also had a hit and scored a run in the Bears' game one win on Sunday.
On Wednesday evening (May 8), Cutter picked up her second career All-MVC first-team honor after receiving the distinction in her sophomore season of 2011. This season, she leads Missouri State with 56 overall hits, 33 runs scored and is the only Bear to start every game. Her 15 stolen bases tops the squad for the third-consecutive season.
The senior from Oklahoma City, Okla., has played in 208 games in an MSU uniform, seventh-most in school history. She also has 615 at-bats as a Bear, the third-most in history. Cutter has set career marks in nearly every offensive category this season.
