Including honors graduate Shelby Strang, six current and former Bears will earn degrees

SPRINGFIELD -- Six current and former Missouri State University student-athletes will receive their degrees Friday, Aug. 2 during summer commencement ceremonies at JQH Arena on the Springfield campus.
The six athletes represent six different sports with volleyball standout Shelby Strang earning cum laude (3.50-3.74 GPA) academic honors.
The summer class brings the 2012-13 academic year to a close with a total of 79 student-athletes completing degrees from Missouri State, including 27 during fall 2012 ceremonies and 46 during spring 2013 commencement.
By sport, here are the student-athletes completing their degrees in August 2013:
Football (1): Adrian Williams (sport administration)
Men's Basketball (1): Keith Pickens (sport administration)
Men's Golf (1): Daily Young (sport administration)
Men's Soccer (1): Eric Martin (logistics and supply chain management)
Volleyball (1): Shelby Strang (sport administration)
Women's Basketball (1): Whitney Edie (criminology)
Missouri State University will confer a total of 585 degrees to students at summer commencement. Friday's ceremony will begin at 1 p.m., and will feature an address from Michael Wynn, Missouri State alum and president and CEO of Oklahoma City CrossFirst Bank. A total of 272 bachelor’s degrees, 302 master’s degrees, nine specialist degrees and two doctorate degrees will be conferred.
