Final Stage of 2012-13 Cheer Tryouts Begins Friday

April 16, 2012

2012 MSU Cheer Squad Tryout Application

SPRINGFIELD -- The final stages of the tryout process for the nationally-recognized Missouri State University cheer team get underway this weekend with the team's final clinic on Friday (April 20) before the squad's annual tryout session on Saturday.

The mandatory pre-tryout clinic begins at 4 p.m. Friday at Hammons Student Center for all tryout participants. Then, on Saturday, tryouts begin at 9 a.m., also at Hammons Student Center.

The weekend clinic and tryout are open to all team-oriented men and women with great enthusiasm, spirit and leadership skills. For a shot at making the 2012-13 squad, all participants must bring a $25 clinic and tryout fee; a cheer tryout release form; a photocopy of a valid health insurance card; and a current physical (issued within the past 6 months) signed by a physician and clearing the participant to participate in cheer, stunting, tumbling, running and strenuous activity.  All participants must also attach a wallet-sized photo to their application. All incoming freshmen and transfer students need to bring proof of acceptance to Missouri State University for the fall semester, while current MSU students should bring their 2012 spring schedule and grade information.

For more information on the clinic and tryout process, please call MSU cheer coach Tim Williams (TWilliams@MissouriState.edu) at (417) 844-4404.

The Missouri State cheerleaders have finished third nationally at the UCA/UDA National Championships the last four years. Team members receive a stipend each semester, cheer for home events and travel to select road games for basketball and football.
