April 14, 2014
Missouri State University has renewed its agreements with three top administrators: Dr. Frank Einhellig, provost; Dr. Drew Bennett, chancellor of the West Plains campus; and Kyle Moats, director of athletics. All of the new agreements are effective July 1, 2014.
“I couldn’t be more pleased,” said Missouri State President Clifton M. Smart III. “Frank, Drew and Kyle are all key members of the administrative team and all have done exceptional work. I depend on all of them and I am glad they have agreed to help continue to build and advance the university.”
The employment letters will be presented to the Board of Governors’ Executive Committee for approval at the April 16 meeting, and then be ratified by the full Board at its May 15 meeting.
Moats has been director of athletics since July 1, 2009. His new agreement is for an indefinite term, and his salary for 2014-15, with 1.5 percent cost of living adjustment, will be $160,302. He also will have a country club membership and would be eligible to receive achievement payments based on student academic achievement, conference placements, appearances in the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, and attendance.
Prior to joining Missouri State, Moats was associate director of athletics for national marketing at the University of Louisville from 2005-09. Prior to that, he was senior associate director of athletics at Marquette University from 2002-05 and in the athletics department at the University of Kentucky from 1989-2002.
Moats received his B.S.E. in physical education in 1988 from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and his master’s degree in sports management in 2001 from the University of Kentucky.
The formal resolution and three appointment letters are available as part of the April 16 Executive Committee agenda.
