Annual Maroon & White Event Brings Out MSU's Best & Brightest
157 Student-Athletes Honored at 3rd Annual Honors Banquet and Awards Ceremony

SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State University hosted its third annual Maroon and White Honors Banquet and Scholar-Athlete Awards ceremony on Sunday, April 14 at JQH Arena.
In all, 157 student-athletes were recognized for achieving a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade-point average for all semesters at Missouri State. The honorees represent more than 40 percent of MSU's student-athletes currently participating in its 16 intercollegiate programs.
The event was sponsored by the The Bank of Missouri, the presenting sponsor for the annual MSU Scholar-Athlete Awards. This year's recipients of The Bank of Missouri Scholar-Athlete Awards were Emily Beaver, a senior English major and track and cross country standout from Diamond, Mo., and Matt Swan, a senior football player from Springfield majoring in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
The ceremony also included recognition by the student-athletes of their professors, faculty and academic mentors in attendance for their hard work and dedication to Missouri State's student-athletes. Additional remarks and congratulations were offered by Director of Athletics Kyle Moats.
Missouri State's Academic All-Americans -- Caleb Schaffitzel of football and Michelle Sommer of soccer were recognized. The final honor of the night, The Highest Team GPA, was awarded to the Missouri State men's and women's golf programs.
