Native of Carl Junction, Mo., accepts role as assistant director of athletics development
March 14, 2013
SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State University Director of Athletics Kyle Moats has announced the hiring of Austin Schilling as assistant director of athletics development.
A native of Carl Junction, Mo., Schilling joins The Bears Fund staff after spending the previous three-and-a-half years in different roles at the University of Arkansas. Most recently, he was part of the Razorback Foundation staff that generated more than $20 million in annual gifts to support student-athletes. He also served as a graduate assistant for the director of athletics development and as an athletics marketing and licensing intern while in Fayetteville.
“As a native of Missouri, I am truly honored to return to my home state and serve Missouri State University,” said Schilling. “I have family in this area, and we have been cheering for the Bears for many years. I’m excited to interact with the donors of The Bears Fund that make a tremendous difference in the lives of the student-athletes, and I look forward to working with the entire athletic department to accomplish our goals.”
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas in 2011 and will complete his MBA there in July.
Schilling, 24, replaces Daniel Heflin who resigned from his MSU Athletics Development post in November to pursue another opportunity. His hire is contingent upon final approval by the Missouri State Board of Governors at its next regularly-scheduled meeting on May 16.
