Lynn Strubberg was a standout for coach Marti Gasser on the Lady Bears’ basketball teams from 1980 to 1983 as SMS moved from AIAW to Gateway Collegiate Athletic Conference competition. Strubberg led the Lady Bears in scoring in two seasons and was a four-year team leader in rebounding. She was a three-time AIAW Division II all-state selection, gained all-region honors two seasons and was the recipient of the SMS Outstanding Female Athlete Award as a senior. Strubberg’s 1,641 career points set a school scoring record at the time she graduated and she also put together the all-time rebound record with 1,048.
