Information for Incoming Students

Freshmen

(Things you need to do prior to your first semester at Missouri State)

Submit an application for admission to the Missouri State Office of Admissions along with the application fee.  (Your application will not be processed without the application fee, which can cause a delay in several different areas.)

Ask the coach of your sport if a notification has been sent to the Missouri State Office of Admissions signifying that you are a student-athlete.

Make sure your final official high school transcript has been sent directly to the Missouri State Office of Admissions. (A delay here can delay your admission to the university.)

Make sure your final official high school transcript has been sent to the NCAA Clearinghouse.  (A delay here can affect your initial eligibility and could cause you to miss early practices with your team.)

If you have taken any classes for college credit, make sure a final official transcript has been sent directly to the Missouri State Office of Admissions from each school through which the credit is granted.  (The sooner these transcripts are in, the better.)

Sign up for a SOAR (Student Orientation, Advisement, & Registration) session. You should be receiving information directly from the SOAR office regarding dates and times.  Note that there is a special session in the early part of the summer especially for student-athletes.  It is very helpful if you can attend this session as there will be a wider choice of classes at this time and it is easier to schedule classes with practice times.

If there is no possible way you can attend a SOAR session during the summer (i.e. travel distance, summer athletic schedule, etc.), notify your coach and have them notify The Achievement Center to make arrangements to register you for classes and sign up for the SOAR session right before classes begin.

If you have any questions prior to your arrival on campus, feel free to contact The Achievement Center (417-836-6829).

Transfers

(Things you need to do prior to and upon your arrival on campus)

Submit an application for admission to the Missouri State Office of Admissions along with the application fee.  (Your application will not be processed without the application fee, which can cause a delay in several different areas.)

Ask the coach of your sport if he or she has sent a notification to the Missouri State Office of Admissions signifying that you are a student-athlete.

Make sure a final official transcript has been sent directly to the Missouri State Office of Admissions from EVERY school you have attended.  (The sooner this is done, the better.  Delays in this area can delay the certification of your eligibility and could keep you from practicing with your team until all transcripts have arrived.)

ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ADMITTED TO MISSOURI STATE AND ARE ON CAMPUS:

Go to the BearPass Card Office (Plaster Student Union, 128) to get your student ID (BearPass Card).  You will need a form of photo identification (preferably a driver's license).

Go to one of the open computer labs (Cheek Hall, 150; Glass Hall, 228, 229, 234, 235; Strong Hall, 107) to set up your campus computer account.  You will need your BearPass Card.  This account allows you to log on to the computers in the labs (including the labs in The Achievement Center) and also serves as your campus email account.

Register your vehicle and purchase a parking permit from the Transit Operations Center located at 700 E. Elm St.

If you choose, purchase a meal plan from Campus Dining Services (Sodexho) located in Plaster Student Union, Room 213 (Next to One Hair Place) or by phone at (417)836-5660.
