Missouri State senior Missy Linnens broke her own 54-hole scoring record by shooting a one-over 217 to finish third at the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup on the par-72, 6,181-yard Cardinal Club Golf Course in Simpsonville, Ky. The Bears shot a three-round total of 929 to finish 13th as a team in the 17-team field.
Linnens posted back-to-back even par 72s before shooting a final round 73 to establish a new benchmark and break the 218 score shot by her and fellow senior Lyndsey Adams at last October’s Shootout at the Legends. She made five birdies in the final round and nine for the tournament.
Stacey Rodger was the next finisher for the Bears, carding rounds of 75, 78 and 76 to place 32nd with a 229. Adams sandwiched an 83 and an 81 around a second-round 76 and finished in 73rd with a 240.
Jillian Anthony placed 81st after carding a 244, and junior Amy Phalajivin ended the tournament with a three-round total of 255.
Notre Dame won the team title with a 14-over 878, and UND’s So-Hyun Park was the medalist with a score of three-under par.
The Bears are off for two weeks before traveling to Broken Arrow, Okla., for the ORU Shootout Oct. 1-2.
