Senior Missy Linnens concluded her four-year golf career at Missouri State University with selection as the 2007-08 MVC Player of the Year at the conclusion of the State Farm MVC Women’s Golf Championship meet Tuesday in Omaha, Neb.
Linnens is the second straight Missouri State player to collect the league honor after teammate Sally Hinton won the MVC award for MSU last year.
Linnens has been a Bears’ scoring leader throughout her time with the Bears of coach Kevin Kane and finished tied for 15th in the final tourney of her career with a 54-hole total of 242 in the league meet. Missouri State finished sixth in the team competition as Illinois State won the league crown for a record ninth time. Amy Phalajivin tied for seventh individually with a three-day total of 239 as the leading Missouri State shooter in the tournament. Drake’s Olivia Lansing was tourney medalist with a 227 score on the Oak Hills Country Club layout.
