The Missouri State women's golf team slipped three spots on the final day of the UALR/North Texas Classic on Tuesday (Mar. 25), but still placed eighth of 21 teams at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Ark. After sitting in fifth place through the first 36 holes, the Bears soared to 321 in windy conditions on the final day and finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 935 after firing 307-307 Monday. Tulsa edged Florida International for the team title by a shot, 912-913, with host Arkansas-Little Rock finishing third at 918.

Senior Missy Linnens led the Bears, finishing 17th after posting 77-77-76--230, while sophomore Stacey Rodger was a stroke back in a 19th-place tie with 75-74-82--231. Junior Amy Phalajivin tied for 32nd with 78-78-80--236; senior Jillian Anthony was 51st overall at 77-82-83--242; and junior Lindsey Wellenstein carded 80-78-90--248 to tie for 77th. Christy Carter of Oral Roberts won a sudden death playoff over Paula Hurtado of Florida International to win medalist honors after both shot one-over-par 217.

The Bears are idle next week before returning to action Apr. 6-7 at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla.
