The Missouri State track and field team wrapped up the
two-day Indiana Relays today in Bloomington, Ind. After an impressive Friday showing, the Bears
capped off the weekend with four top-five finishes today.
Sophomore Shawnté Middlebrook earned two podium
finishes. Middlebrook set a personal
best in the long jump with a distance of 18-10.75, three and a half inches
farther than her previous best. She
landed in second place in the event.
Middlebrook also reached the podium with a third-place finish in the
triple jump with a distance of 37-11.25 feet.
Rashida Allen placed third in the 200-meter dash seeded,
running a time of 24.79 seconds. Her
teammate, Corteneé Boulard placed eighth in the event with a time of 25.69
seconds.
Junior Staci Nelson also placed in the top-five with a
fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run.
She ran a time of 10:17.37, a personal best in the event.
Just missing the top-five were Asher Kyger and Renna
Berry. Kyger placed sixth in the
800-meter invitational, running a personal best of 2:12.06. She becomes the fourth-fastest performer in
school history in the 800.
Renna Berry also placed sixth. She ran a personal best time of 26.82 seconds
in the 200-meter dash unseeded.
The 4x400-meter relay “B” team of Berry, Kyger, Boulard, and
Alexandria Oembler finished eighth. The
team finished in a time of 3:58.44.
Missouri State’s “A” team did not compete today.
Junior Pasca Cheruiyot attained the NCAA Provisional mark of
9:30.60 in the 3,000-meter invitational yesterday, finishing second. She is now the second-fastest performer in
school history in the event.
The Missouri State track and field team will next be in
action at the Iowa State Classic beginning Friday, February 13.
