The Missouri State men’s soccer team battled the Bradley Braves to a 0-0 halftime tie.  The Bears exploded in the second half to defeat the Braves(6-8-1) 2-0 in Peoria, Ill.

The Bears (5-7-4) entered the game with a huge amount of momentum after tying the second ranked Creighton Bluejays at home on Tuesday (Oct. 21).  Despite the momentum the Bears were outshot 11-6 in the first half.

The Bears finally broke the 0-0 tie when Brandon Durk caught Johannes Demarzi with pass streaking up the left sideline.  Demarzi blasted a deep crossing shot that slipped just inside the right post 28 minutes into the second half.

The Bears added to their lead when David Buckenheimer tapped a pass to Kyle Windmueller off of a give-and-go in the box.  Windmueller beat Bradley’s Drew Van Kampen in front of the net for the second goal on the night and his second of the season.

The Braves outshot the Bears 17-13 for the game but a solid night by the Bears’ defense kept the Braves out of the net.  The solid net play by Alex Riggs netted him four saves on the night to push his season total to 80.

The win pushes the Bears’ final regular season conference record to 2-1-1.  The Bears will be in action again when they travel to University of Missouri-Kansas City on Tuesday (Oct. 28) for a 7 p.m. game.
