The Missouri State track and field team finished seventh overall after Saturday's conclusion of the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship, in Carbondale, Ill. Wichita State took home the Valley title with 142 points, followed by Northern Iowa with 98 points, Indiana State with 80, Illinois State with 69, Southern Illinois with 55, Drake with 43, MSU with 36 and Bradley placed eighth with four points.
Freshman Leander Ernest was the only gold medalist for Missouri State as she won the 400-meter dash in a time of 54.91, leading her competition by over a second.
Alexandria Oembler finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdle finals in a time of 8.88. Oembler joined Ernest, Angelique Stephens, and Renna Berry on the 4x400-meter relay team that finished third in a time of 3:49.74.
Kristin Wolkey had a runner-up finish in the mile run for the Bears, stopping the clock at 4:57.68. She also added a seventh-place finish in the 3,000-meter run in 10:07.39. Teammate Carrie Vestal placed ninth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 10:16.20.
In field events, the Bears placed three in the top-ten on Saturday's conclusion. Zaleika Goffe and Maraneika Goffe had a fifth and sixth-place finish, respectively, in the high jump both clearing 5'4 1/4". Ashely Harris placed ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 36'8 1/4".
The Bears will be back on the track Saturday, March 3, in Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Last Chance Meet.
