The Missouri State men's soccer team (11-3-2, 6-1-1) jumped
three spots to No. 22 in the NSCAA Top 25 National Rankings this week. The Bears also entered the Soccer America
rankings at No. 25 and the CollegeSoccerNews.com rankings at No. 23.
Missouri State will host Evansville (10-6-1, 4-3-1) at
Plaster Field on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
The Bears, riding a six-game winning streak, rallied for a thrilling 3-2
overtime win over Drake on Sunday. The
Bears defeated Evansville in Indiana on October 10, 1-0. Johannes Demarzi tallied for Missouri State
off a free kick in the 62nd minute.
The Bears have already clinched a spot in the MVC Tournament
next week, but the seeding in the tournament is still at stake. Missouri State can clinch the regular season
MVC Title and top-seed with a win over the Purple Aces at Plaster Field.
"This game is huge for us, especially being at home," said
head coach Jon Leamy. "The fan support
at Plaster Field will be critical as we have an opportunity to clinch at home."
The Bears will travel to Eastern Illinois on Saturday to
wrap up the regular season. The Bears
and Panthers kick off at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Field in Charleston, Ill.
