The Missouri State women's soccer team (8-5-3, 3-1-1) wrapped up its non-conference slate with a 2-0 shutout win at SIU Edwardsville (2-9-2) today.

Senior Samantha Aguilar scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 15th minute to put the Bears ahead, 1-0.  Jessica Smits added her third assist of the season on the play to lead all defenders in the category.  Aguilar's goal was the eventual game winner, the fifth of her career, tying her for fourth all-time in Missouri State history.

In the 80th minute, sophomore Kelsey Finders recorded her second goal of the season.  Finders' goal gave the Bears a two goal cushion in the waning minutes.  Nia Williams assisted on the goal for her first career point.

The Missouri State offense mustered 13 shots in the match.  Megan Jaskowiak led the squad with three of those shots.  Claire Hulcer and Jenna Dobkins each added two shots for the Bears.

Goalkeeper Jessica Teahan made her 16th start of the season and made five saves for the win.  Freshman Chelsea Voet made her third appearance of the season in relief as she entered the match in the 73rd minute.  Voet made four saves to preserve the shutout.  The Bears have now recorded eight shutouts on the season.

Missouri State will return home on Thursday, October 29, for the regular season finale against Illinois State.  The Bears and Redbirds will kickoff at 1:00 p.m. at Plaster Field.  With a win or a tie, Missouri State will get a bye in the first round of the MVC Tournament.
